- Cooperation bodies will continue to play a key role in helping to develop industry and in disseminating good practice. It is to be hoped that their support will continue to be directed at consolidating the regulated and supervised offer and to raise the level of banking penetration, as well as cover the possible effects of the crisis on some banks. In fact, the development of the sector will be linked to the strategies of these bodies, as governments’ action is irregular and lacks a clear, unequivocal objective with regard to this development.
- Second-tier banks will continue to have a scarce presence. With the development of the microfinance industry in countries which are more advanced in this matter, the meso level will start to grow in importance, which could lead to the arrival on the scene of a second-tier bank. However, it will be an isolated event.
